Conway wildlife control tip of the month:
How to get Opossum out of your attic
Opossum is one of the pests and as a scavenger it is looking for food in the vicinity of human
properties. Opossum is looking for food, water and shelter and usually it builds a nest under the house,
deck or in the attic. They are great climbers and therefore climbing up to an attic represents no problem
at all. In majority cases when rescuing opossums from the attic it is a female with its young, it is a nest
actually. When you are getting opossum out of your attic you might follow these five Conway animal control steps:
Determine if it is an opossum, Trapping, Removal, Finding entry points, Sealing entry points
Step 1: First of all, you need to determine, if the animal that needs to be evicted is an opossum.
Some evidents that opossum might be nesting in your attic (noise at night, slow, heavy movement around the attic,
large droppings); if you got 2 out of 3 there is a strong Conway wildlife removal possibility that your visitor is an opossum.
Step 2: Place the trap to a right location and on a solid surface. The traps should be placed on the
roof near the entry hole and inside the attic bellow the entry hole. Put a small amount of bait in front of the trap to
lure the opossum and a bigger piece inside the trap. After the Conway pest control trap is placed you need to check several times a day.
Step 3: If you catch the opossum the next thing on your Conway animal trapping list is to safely remove it from the attic and
transport it to a more suitable living environment. Make sure all of opossums, especially young were trapped and prepared
for relocation. Opossums usually don´t cause many problems during the transport. New environment should have enough food
and water and enough protection for safe shelter.
Step 4: After safe removing the opossum (with its family) you
need to take care of some home repair. Firstly, you need to determine where the access point was. How did the opossum get in?
After pinpointing the entrance, it is time for another step.
Step 5: The last Conway exterminator step in rescuing the opossum out of the
attic is the repairment of the hole or any opening spaces. The opening should be completely sealed off in order to prevent any
animals from climbing to the attic. After removing the opossum or their family from the attic make sure no animals have been left behind.
